I've been coming to New Tokyo for almost 15 years. The sushi is consistently fresh and nicely prepared. Likewise, the bento boxes. The couple who owns it are accommodating. Only reason for four instead of five stars is that they never have the more exotic options like uni, amaebi, etc. On the other hand, being high end is not their thing. Their thing is consistent high quality and they do it well.

Small restaurant. Food has been great each time I've eaten here. Hard to beat the food quality and amount for the price.

Thank you for satisfying my craving for “Midnight Diner: Tokyo stories”. The katsudon donburi was perfection. Wonderful humble joint.

Unpretentious working-class with Japanese dishes & sushi in a Marina, CA strip mall off Reservation Road. Clean, but not fussy, with nice decor. New Tokyo has been in the Marina neighborhood for a couple decades. The menu is kept cost-effective for the majority of their regulars. CLOSED SUNDAYS. All other days 11:30 to 9:30PM. I got here at 7:30PM, since Nak Won Korean BBQ was Closed, though their info said Open til 9PM. There are a Several Asian restaurants nearby along Reservation Road & Del Monte. A variety to pick from! I joined 15 diners, was seated at a table to myself. I ordered a 22 oz Kirin in bottle. My dinner was Kim Chee soup with Soba ( buckwheat noodles ), Ginger Beef w/ rice, and a Salmon Skin hand roll. The ginger beef was served on a flat plate, which lets juices fall to the bottom, drying out the beef slices. Unless you inhale the plate quickly, it loses its appeal. It was good. Japanese kim chee is not fiery like Korean. The soup was very good, the soba were perfect texture. The salmon skin hand roll was flavorful. Decent size too. I was given permission to take photos, I was the last client still there. I took time to show them their Google Maps page, that they needed to claim their business. I showed them they were low on photos showing their plates of food & sushi. I am going with 5 Stars because the owners are sincerely providing good Japanese food in a very tight market. They cannot afford to carry every type of sushi ingredient due to costs, and what their customer base usually can afford. Glad that Karma brought me to New Tokyo tonight.
