I was so disappointed. It is what it is, a low budget buffet. Though, at about 18 dollars per person, it could be a lot better. It doesn't even come close to comparing to others like Pechanga or any of the other local buffets for around the same price.
First off, the drink station is in the lobby. To get refills you have to go back out to the other side of the velvet rope where people are standing in line to enter the restaurant.
The food is very basic. If it hasn't been touched in awhile, the food on top looks congealed and dried out from the heat lamps. They don't routinely mix it up to keep it consistent. Most of the food was cold. They have ribs and steak but I had to request it or would buy have known about it. They brought some for me from their cooking area, so at least it was warm. However, my daughter asked for some that was medium rare. It was very rare, almost bloody purple inside. No biggie, I like it that way, so I ate it. She had to order well done in order to get medium rare. Lastly, I went to get desert and I stood there, along with another diner, as we waited for almost 10 minutes for an employee to appear from behind the kitchen doors and man the desert station. As he walked by, I made eye contact with the manager, who already knew I was unhappy with my experience(more on that to come). He slowly walked over and said "well I'll have to go wash my hands first" and stalled for time, hoping his employee would return before he had to scoop the ice cream himself. He simply said "what kind do you want?" and then scooped it for me and handed it to me without saying another word.
Now, about the manager knowing I wasn't happy....
He and his co-manager/supervisor had their own tables occupied in the middle of the restaurant, with food from GC and other various foods from other places spread out, along with their personal items and paperwork. They were just camped out, eating and socializing as if they were having a dinner party at their own home. I never complained, but did tell our waiter, when he asked how it was, that it was cold and generally disgusting. He was the only good part of the trip. He kept the water filled up in our glasses, he brought us plenty of napkins, cleared our used plates immediately, and was very attentive in general. He also took it upon himself to have the cook staff check the food temp. I know this because one cook came to the manager with laser temp checker in hand and let him know there was an issue. This was shortly after I told the waiter. The manager never got up from his table or even put his food down for a second in order to address the situation. Finally, when we left, it was getting close to closing time. The manager was holding the exit door open so he could lock it behind us as we left. He never asked how our experience was or anything. Never even said goodnight as we walked past him. He already knew we were unhappy, so he didn't want to ask us and then have to deal with our answer. A decent manager would have been proactive and said "I understand there might have been some issues with our service. First, I'm very sorry for this and, secondly, Would you care to let us know what the problem was so we can address where we went wrong and learn from it." If he had said something like that, I would have never made a negative review. Negative reviews are not to punish the store or get back at them. They are meant as a tool so the store can improve their service for future customers. I'm leaving this review so the owners of other managers can have this info. Because the manager in question didn't ask for or even care to know how he could improve their horrible service.
