Beautiful setting overlooking Lake Merritt. If you like traditional dancing--ballroom type--you'll like this. . . Our party of four enjoyed watching couples dance on a large dance floor surrounded by tables for drinks and dining. Wait staff was very nice and cocktails good. Cliental were there to dance. Band was fantastic--8 piece old time swing band. The food needs a lot of work. Our party of four had chicken (OK) salmon and salad (marginal) and a basic hamburger (not good). Artichoke appetizer was inedible. Go for the music, band and cocktails, not the food!

Quite the impressive romantic settings for any special occasion. But when it comes to their prefix menu for said special occasion (i.e Valentine's Day). The taste was good. But the creativity/execution with the meal left a lot to be desired. Would have liked to try the original menu dishes instead. But dessert was very good with really creative twist.

One of my favorite places where I have celebrated many special occasions. It's like stepping back in time, with great service, good food, and amazing views. I enjoy the lounge area, too, where I attend a montly women's cocktail party. They also have live music and dancing on the weekends with many generations of diners enjoying it all - from young to old. An Oakland icon.
