Delicious food! Good service. Nice piano music. It was a Wednesday night which is their cheeseburger night. I had one and it was very good and the french fries were outstanding.

Where do I begin? We came into this place and it smelled wonderful. After asking the server (who turned out to be the owner) a few questions we ordered our dinners, three of us having steaks. There were four of us and two of us were still eating our salads, when the owner came out with our dinners. As someone who has worked at four star restaurants as a server, it’s definitely a no-no to bring out the entrees until everyone at the table is done with their salads. When I expressed this to the server, she told me it was because I was the only one still eating my salad.... I told her I didn’t understand why she had fired the entrees so soon & she responded that it’s really hard to predict when everyone would be done with their salads?!... um, that’s your job as a server! As one of the other people in our group was having salad as her entree, she also used that as an excuse as to why she brought out the entrees too soon... lots of excuses. She offered to bring mine back into the kitchen, but as I know they go under heat lamps and dry up I told her to just leave it. She made a series of disapproving expressions when I said this to her! At this point, I had had it with her. Telling her there was no need for the “faces” & attitude, she flounces off into the kitchen & began to tell the man back there about what happened (all this could be seen & partially heard from our table!). I was appalled a server would behave this way! This place is not inexpensive & as we are accustomed to good restaurants, I have never seen this kind of behavior EVER in any of the places we have dined in of this “caliber”. From our earlier conversation with her, she knew we were visiting from CT. A couple minutes after delivering the entrees (steaks were cold & undercooked, we All ordered medium rare, string beans salty) , server comes out and informs me she’s the owner & she doesn’t know how people in CT act but she thinks I’m extremely rude & then goes on to chastise me even further in front of my husband and the other couple we were with! I tell her “REALLY?! This is how you speak to your customers?! What I told you is a pretty basic rule in fine dining etiquette & now you’re berating me?!” THEN, she starts going on how it’s her restaurant & how I’m a guest there (like she was doing us a favor to let us eat there!) & I am in HER restaurant! The only reason we didn’t get up & leave was because we were with the friends we were visiting & one of them has been ill. We had a long day, just wanted to finish our meal & get out of there. I should have read more of the other reviews before I had talked everyone into going there! I guess when you’re the only steakhouse in a small village you can get away w/this kind of behavior, but OC we will never return when we come back to visit. It really put a pall on an otherwise wonderful day we had w/our friends! As an experienced server, this is just not the way you should treat your customers! When she came to ask how our meals were I didn’t tell her about the cold raw steak because she obviously could care less. What a horrific experience. It would be an understatement to say she ruined our meal; and an expensive one at that. As I’ve stated earlier, we’re accustomed to nice places & don’t mind spending the $, but to be chastised & lectured & loud enough for the other table behind us to hear (she obviously knew them) was inexcusable. No wonder the place was almost empty! Well I guess 4-Star places don’t usually have karaoke nights either... that should have been another red flag before we decided to eat there. Shame on this woman for her inexcusable unprofessional behavior!
