Great food and service, the right atmosphere for a diner with friends.

We made a reservation for a thanksgiving dinner and unfortunately this place failed miserably to deliver a satisfactory experience. The table wasn't ready for at least 30 min and then we only had 30 min to have dinner since they failed to inform us that food would be stopped being served at 9pm. Service was good but management needs to make better decisions when it comes to service and reservations.

We have been visiting Anzu for several years now, and it's always a treat. I love being able to drive up and park at the Hotel Nikko while I'm at Anzu. The staff are the best anywhere, so kind and thoughtful...and they remember us from visit to visit. Terrific people make this place great! The food is good: I particularly like the udon as an alternative to the filling brunch buffet.

We dined at Anzu on Christmas Eve, one of the few reservations available at a late date. The decor is elegant, if dark and austere. We were served an amuse-bouche which was likely left over sushi. My glass of Mazantas Creek Chardonnay was at most four-ounces for which they charged eighteen-dollars, enough to buy an entire bottle at a retail outlet (the same can be said for my glass of mediocre Sean Minor Cabernet). Adding insult to injury, I discovered later that the waiter had double charged me for the wine. So far, the management, in spite of several emails, has not made any adjustment. Our grilled octopus was excellent, though the portion was tiny. Our entrees, braised beef ribs with polenta, were excellent. Service was average, one friendly waiter balancing out one surly one. The charge for one appetizer, two entrees, a salad, and two glasses of wine plus the mandatory 18 percent tip was enough to have bought another flat screen TV, which I wish we had done. Needless to say, we wont return.
