The wait: we came on Sunday evening (Mother's Day) and surprisingly it wasn't crowded. We waited about 10 minutes for our seats. The service: really friendly and helpful. No complains there. The only thing is they tend to forget what you ordered. They often have to ask you when they bring the dishes. The food: good, but not great given the hype and the price. Very limited and most of all, ordinary. Not quite traditional and not very innovative. I'd probably come back and try other dishes and see what else they have to offer.

Really enjoyed this place. The spring salad was amazing including fresh baby peas and asparagus (no lettuce). The fried potatoes were very tasty. Would never order the pretzel again - was pretty bad. Good thing there are lots of mustards to choose from. But the best item on the menu by far was the dessert: pumpkin sundae! Vanilla ice cream with pumpkin seed brittle, pumpkin seed oil, and salt. It was pricey, and trendy. It is very noisy, so not a good place for hearing-impaired people.

Of a split mind. San Mateo needs more tasty casual options like this. But... having to wait outside in the cold when there were seats available was rude. And 70 bucks for two admittedly tasty sausages, one small beer, and an undersized pretzel means we need a little more competition. A limited fast menu should mean lower prices. Not likely to be back.

Great for a fun place to grab beers and to get a fix for wursts, but won't knock your socks off. Pros: Really lively ambiance, great service, fantastic beer selection, good selection of mustards, crispy potatoes were solid. Cons: Would've expected more innovative food given the hype and price point ($53 for two wursts and crispy potatoes). Wursts were just okay. Wait was 45 min (and we were told that was short).

Trendy place to grab some beer and a bite to eat. They have decorated the indoor area with strings of lights to simulate an outdoor beer garden. Easier to get seating here than at Gourmet Hausstadt in Redwood City. Their beer selection is more limited compared to Refuge, and they could have more dessert options vs the one pumpkin thing currently there. But I love their potatoes and sausages, especially the al pastor! This place is family-friendly; they readily accommodate kids and strollers. Be warned though that this place is a no-cash facility.
