This is a tale of two lunches, mine: a Midwestern US seafood lover’s dream and my wife’s: some very unimpressive “fajitas” with a side of very sad coleslaw. I ordered the fried cod and calamari and upgraded the cup of chowder to a bread bowl; it was a good life choice. My lunch, again, was super great. No complaints aside from the teeny tiny joke of a water glass they brought me; I legit needed a refill after 2 gulps—scandalous! My wife’s lunch was sad. The fajita meat and veggies had been stewed after having been grilled or, perhaps, never grilled at all. They were mushy; plenty hot, but mushy. And the coleslaw tasted like wet cabbage. I know that’s pretty much what coleslaw is, but it usually at LEAST tastes like mayonnaise or vinegar or some other seasoning. Not this one. Wet cabbage—that’s it. The view here was good, the staff were sometimes attentive but mostly just aloof millennials sporting beach wear and wishing they were there instead of at work. Understandable, but unprofessional nonetheless.

Amazing. We parked right outside. Had the excellent crab sandwich and the fish taco. Really great service. Go.

Great seafood! Staff was excellent. Happy hour was a godsend for an expensive tourist town. Great beer selection and wife loved the gelato!

Riva is the best restaurant on the wharf. They have very fresh fish, and serve it up plain or saucy, whatever you prefer. My favorites are the Crab salad, the crab sandwich on a sourdough roll, and the Snapper Salsa. Don't forget to try the fried zucchini dipped in ranch dressing, and don't leave without trying some gelato. They also have the best, most authentic gelato in Santa Cruz and the biggest selection of flavors.
