As usual, staff is attentive, personable and knowledgeable. Chef circulated and spoke with guests as well. Great wine selection with enthusiastic and knowledgeable sommelier. The smell of the outdoor woodburning fire was tantalizing. The interior atmosphere is quintessential mountain warmth. Large open to two sides fireplace, soaring wood beamed ceiling, cozy high-backed leather chairs by the fire, nice bar area. Just came for drinks this evening, but from past dining, the food is well worth the drive too. Went back the next evening for dinner. The down home special for the evening was ideal for the cold winter night - elk stroganoff. Super tender elk tenderloin, rich and flavorful sauce and three different types of succulent mushrooms - shitake, oyster and trumpet. And as a lovely background, Peter Vavra on piano. Update: Another delicious dinner. The salmon was just the way I like it - a crispy sear on the outside and moist on the inside. The presentation was as beautiful to look at as it was to eat. The filet sat atop a creative bed of fine threads of crispy sweet potatoes. Adjacent was a butternut squash puree dotted with three tiny mildly piquant Peruvian Sweetie peppers. On either side of the salmon were scattered sauteed brussels sprout petals, and rounding out the harmonious color and taste combo was a garnish of a few sprigs of parsley and tender pea shoots. I saved room for dessert - one of the revolving souffle selections. The souffle here an airy cake-like dessert (as opposed to a custard-eggy souffle) with a center pour and top drizzle of warm sauce. Tonight's was my favorite so far - banana foster flavor with rum caramel sauce. Good thing I skiid today!

I was here for a special event and the staff was amazing. The building itself was very nice as well and blended with the mountain environment.
