Wonderful vegan and gluten free friendly spot in a town lacking a lot of options. We liked it so much, we went back the next day! The staff is wonderful, VERY friendly and eager to help. The restaurant itself is super cozy, I very much enjoyed the atmosphere. The menu has something for everyone, every mood, every craving. I recommend the fire island sandwich, so yummy! The baked items were also delicious! I had a gluten free coffee cupcake. I live several states away but can't wait until my next trip to New Haven to go back. I wish I could have taken it with me! Thanks Claire! See you next time

Let's get this out of the way: the concept is great and there should be more vegan restaurants that treat their workers well: +1. The owners are top-notch, thoughtful, responsive: +1. Staff is friendly and service is usually quick: +1. But the food just isn't that great. I've had smoothies, burritos, nachos, salads, various baked goods and have just never been that impressed. The cakes are usually quite good, though, esp. the Lithuanian Coffee Cake. Overall, I want to like Claire's, and maybe I would like it more if I were vegan, but the food has usually been bland, sometimes too soggy, too cold, too dry, or something else that just stops it short of being impressive. Get the cake, though.

There are so many options here it's a little overwhelming. Everything is vegetarian and delicious. The place is an institution around Yale and New Haven and is usually pretty full. Try there burritos and burgers. The staff is friendly and eager to help. Try and have your mind made up quickly because there is usually a line.

I think this place gets FAR more hype than it deserves. The food is tasty and not an issue. I would definitely go back. Would not go out of my way for this place but if I'm in the area is a nice place to eat. Anyone who goes there should expect that their #1 goal is to make money so they don't get disappointed. Customer service is iffy. I witnessed the server get a bit short and cold with another customer who wasn't satisfied with a side salad she received. Food is very pricy. I'm not that picky with poor customer service but could easily see others get offended.
