Living in Grayslake it was a good hour in any direction to find great Cuban food. Thanks to Congri, it is literally right around the corner from us. Everything we have had has been excellent, from Seafood to any of their varied chicken or meat dishes. Truly authentic Cuban food. The business is run by a family, and you can taste the pride. The dining room is flawlessly clean as are the bathrooms. Each time we are there, we are greeted with a smile and truly feel like we are welcome. You must try this restaurant.

Great food and staff! This is my 4th time coming to eat at the restaurant and lost count on ordering food for pickup. Congri is right around the corner from the College of Lake County "CLC" and 15 minutes from Six Flags.

The food that I ordered was alright. I didnt really try their Cuban staple dishes (Congri, ropa vieja, etc), but I did try their Cuban Sandwich which was delicious and tender, well seasoned. My wife tried their beef sandwich and was very dissappointed, the steak was tough, underseasoned, and really needed something extra like a sauce on the meat or to dip into. We got the papa rellena which tasted like it was frozen and then fried, and empanadillas which were pretty good. The last thing we tried were the plantains which again were lacking. If they had a chimichurri or even just Olive oil and garlic on them it might have been better, but they just tasted like any old store bought platano. Again I didnt try the real staples aside from the Cuban Sandwich which I genuinely liked, but of what i tried vs how much i spent i was pretty underwhelmed.

Two wings from the same bird. That was a quote given to me by an amazing Cuban grandma I met long ago since then I have felt a love for the Cuban people like they are like the alike twin sister of Puerto Rico. I love the people and the food and looking at pictures of Cuba and the similarities of the flag. Made me nostalgic for our food. Eating at Congri was taking me to a place of comfort. It transported me to the Puerto Rico I remember. I love that we share so many similarities. Arriba Cuba! Puerto Rico se levanta! Que Dios los bendiga.

Cuban sandwich was mostly bread, but the bread seemed homemade and was delicious. The ropa viejo was very good.
