I love a good small town breakfast joint, and the Somonauk Pancake House did not disappoint. I went on a Sunday, it was moderately busy. I got coffee right away, and the waitress took my order shortly after. I got a corned beef hash skillet, it was great. I like eggs over medium and many places don't get that correct, but the chef here did. Pancakes instead of toast, they were smaller than I expected but were delicious. As big as the skillet was they were just enough, and quality won out over quantity. Friendly waitstaff, excellent food, good prices, I'll be back. They also are open for dinner.

I like it because it's a "come as you are" type restaurant. The food is good, the staff is fast, friendly, & very accommodating. On a recent visit we were party of 7 & hadn't realized that it was 5 mins to closing time. We were welcomed in, service was great, food arrived quickly, hot (or cold) & delicious, & with no complaints from any of us. Due to it's name I ordered pancakes & they were large, hot & perfect! I've been there twice & my friends have eaten there several times. For a basic country cafe, it was exemplary!
