The food: 5/5 Just great food, very healthy, looks great on the plate. The atmosphere: 5/5 Take a tour of the building. It is gorgeous and overlooks the river. The upstairs is perfect for a party. The drinks: 4/5 No Guinness. That really should take a star off everything but I'll make an exception. Karen and Tammy make the restaurant an extension of West Dundee's ideals. The food comes from local organic produce. The food is excellent. The chefs in charge create very distinctive food profiles for taste. The cocktails are very well put together and complement the establishments food very well. The wait staff and bar staff attend you quickly. I recommend Jenna she has always been very sweet and ensures you leave happy. En_Vita Ed_K Overall: 14/15 for one of the coolest new places West Dundee has to offer.

Very disappointing experience. I had eaten at Blue Root once before with friends and the wait staff, food and drinks were excellent. So for my birthday I wanted my husband and five friends to dine there. Made reservations for 6:30. We arrived there a little before 6:30 and were told there would be a 15 minute wait. We were seated around 7:20. We ordered drinks and appetizers. The drinks came fairly timely. The appetizers arrived 8:05. Most if the appetizers were slightly warm instead of hot. We had to ask for silverware and napkins. The silverware was brought on two small plates and the napkins were small paper napkins much like you would get at a fast food place. We noticed the tables around us had nice cloth napkins so we asked for those and they were finally brought to the table. My husband and one of our friends talked to the manager about the service and she brought out two appetizer taster trays. Which was nice but not what we needed when we had already had several appetizers. Our dinner arrived around 8:45. My burger was not correct and had to be sent back. One other burger was over done, but was eaten and the mac and cheese was very bland. Two other dinners were cold. All in all not a good experience. I doubt any of us will make a return visit. Very unfortunate because the idea behind this restaurant is excellent but not well executed.

Not a fan it was really over priced. I got the veggie bigger on a gluten free bun. The flavor was off no seasoning. It fell apart I could not even eat it. Since it was made from millet I don't think they used a binder to keep it together. The sweet potatoes fries were burnt and I received a small amount. Maybe they have other food that is amazing I would not go back.

Great food, great people. Total recommend. Beware of “local guides” who’d discredit a place rather than deal directly with the establishment from which they received supposedly poor service and/or quality product. My friend who is vegan/vegetarian LOVES this place as do I.

Absolutely beautiful place! I love the variety on the menu. I also like the little touch of the menu being printed on recycled paper and with soy ink!!! The waiter we had was great and the seating was comfortable. I came at 3 for just drinks and I was surprised at how busy it was. Which I think is great! I definitely will be coming back.
