Payne's is a unique, fun, and trendy restaurant! They serve delicious custard, but also have an eclectic menu with a higher end feel. Pros and cons: -Food- Pros: The custard here is delicious. I've been coming here since Payne's opened and the custard and desserts have always been great. They have excellent coffee and tea that I absolutely love. They have a very creative menu that serves food you won't find anywhere around here. They put a lot of time and attention into all the food they serve. Cons: I do feel like they don't have enough "normal" food on the menu. They have a lot of items that may not appeal to the typical customer. The price is also a little high for some items, especially with the quantity of food. -Service- Pros: The servers here are VERY friendly, welcoming, hospitable, efficient, polite, presentable, and professional. They make sure you are well taken care of and make the customer number one. Cons: I actually have no cons. The service is simply on point and what you'd want at a restaurant. -Restaurant- Pros: Payne's is a trendy, artistic, and creative restaurant. I love the style of this place! It's a very comfortable and inviting place. The atmosphere is relaxing and chill. It's always clean and presentable, which I love. Cons: I have three complaints. I do think the restaurant could be bigger. It is a bit cramped and I do wish this place was bigger. Another complaint is the size of the parking lot. There isn't a whole lot of parking. But, I've heard they are expanding the parking lot which is great! But another issue I have is location. It is a bit out of the way and not centrally located. -Conclusion- This is a great restaurant with good food that I highly suggest checking out. It's a good chill spot and an enjoyable time is pretty guaranteed.

Hungry driving I-69 between Indy and Ft Wayne?? Pull off at Gas City! Very quirky place from out of '68. Features very interesting menu with mostly local 'field to fork' ingredients. Non-standard sandwiches, or local steak, lamb, pork, (and local scallops ;) ) Excellent desserts, too. Live a little!

Love the vibe of the place. Whether eating indoors or out on the beautiful patio, or celebrating a big event or a casual meal, Payne’s delivers on atmosphere, service, and most of all - great food. If you haven’t been, treat yourself! We recommend the Fish & Chips, Elderflower Mimosa, Indiana Craft Beers, and Sticky Toffee Pudding.

Everything this place makes is phenomenal. The soups combine unexpected flavors to perfection. For dessert, we get the Rhubarb Crumble with Granola every time I go. They have a selection of hot teas that I enjoy. The decor is unique--there's always something captivating to look at.

Great little find! I have been there 3 times now and have had a wonderful experience each visit. Fish and chips are the best you will have outside the U.K. Soups are homemade and delicious and are served with various types of grilled cheese combos. Very creative menu overall. I always stop in when I'm travel in Indiana. Outstanding staff as well!
