Good old fashioned American comfort food! Great value for what you get. The whole restaurant has that down home atmosphere. As you look around you see people from the community sitting in the booths and tables just fellowshipping and catching up on the latest gossip.

Terrible customer service. There were 9 people inside the restaurant, and I asked for a coke, she brought 2 sprites and 2 cokes, and I grabbed mine and she was like "Is this your sprite?" And I said no it's my Coke. And she started getting all mad. Then she handed them all out and my friend tries to make a conversation, and he says "It smells like up dog in here." And she couldn't understand what we were saying. So she flips out on all the 9 of us, and so did the majority of the staff. They were cussing out loud to eachother, how terrible of people we are. I have a feeling that my food had spit on it.. Just mean people, and bad service. And keep in mind, we are all 13-16 year olds. (Waitress Monica)

We have a family tradition of going to the White Steamer when we get together for the holidays. My great uncle used to grill the burgers a long time ago. My grandma says the bar stools, floors, and lots of other things in the restaurant are the originals. The burgers are very good and the shakes are milky (aka the real thing.) You can also get a sack of burgers to go (they're even better leftover.) If you want to get to know Indiana this is the place to do it. Everything from the photos of their regular customers on the napkin dispensers to the homage to Route 66 in the decorations are a true and authentic representation of Indiana's version of Americana.
