We like to take in the local restaurants when visiting a town, and this stop was a pleasant one. Start with the wait staff: very attentive and friendly. The beverages never reached the bottom of the glass and we were checked on multiple times. Food came out HOT and well timed. You had time to enjoy your appetizer before the next items arrived. And you could tell they were right off the grill, not just sitting under a heat lamp until the right time. The food: we ordered appetizers, soup and entrees. Anything that was fried was done expertly and there wasn’t even a single drop of grease or oil on the food or the plates. The soup was complex and very tasty. The entrees, which included a sirloin and roast beef sandwich were done exactly to order. Even simple things like the fries, which were crisp, seasoned and broke when you bent them, rather than hung like a wet noodle were a real bonus. If you like your food prepared as you requested it, and not containing a cardiac-inducing level of sodium, you will appreciate Weitzel’s. If you equate flavor with excessive amounts of salt, then either drench it yourself (there is salt at the table) or stick with the national chains. Oh, did we mention that the dressings and sauces were homemade? Weitzel’s is a great family restaurant/bar. We are making a point of returning here when we pass through or near Atlantic again.

Food is always good, and their homemade onion rings and ranch is amazing. I get both every time I visit. Highly recommended on any occasion.

Great place to eat, super great staff and delicious food.

Onion rings were fantastic but the entries left a lot to be desired. Our meal took a really long time to come out (mind you we we're 1 of 5 tables in the restaurant) and then most everyone in our party of 6 had over cooked/ burnt food. Pretty disappointed as when we've eaten here previously, the food was much better.

Ate off paper plates, felt ignored by staff. Not a very good selection of drinks. Not impressed by food. Eatable, but nothing to bring a person back. Past experiences have been slow service.
