We can't wait to go back! My husband and I stopped in for a quick bite on a Thursday evening. We ordered the spicy salmon roll and it came to us in less than 5 minutes. Our server was so kind and seemed very knowledgeable about the menu. We appreciated this. The atmosphere at Wa is excellent. Quiet, relaxing music, appropriate lighting, and a calm atmosphere. Delicious food and great owners.

Wa was frequently recommended when we moved here, but found to be not worth a return try. Started with asking server about sake options and their only response was that it came in a bottle. The options for sushi were good, but when it came the rice wasn't quite cooked all the way (or stale? ) and the fish was cut very uneven. Different sizes, one piece had two smaller slices stacked on top of each other another had one really long piece that could almost wrap around again. If the location was somewhere else/ cheaper, I would consider trying again. But for the main street with nicer restaurants not worth it.

I really enjoy their food here. It is on the expensive side which I believe they can give you a little bit more food for what you’re paying. I would give it a five stars but I had a very negative experience. My significant other and I enjoy having lunch at this place. We went a more than couple times, the server his name is Tanner was friendly at first then stop being friendly once he saw my significant other and I a lot more. Not to get into ethics, we can’t always give a “good” tip financially sometimes. I believe, Tanner started to notice this. One time, he wrote on customer receipt not merchants receipt, “please tip better.” ( I believe I still have the receipt to show the owner) When I saw this I was really turned off on tipping him. So I didn’t because I do not believe server should be asking for tips. After that he started to ignore my significant other and I when coming into the restaurant. He is the only server in the restaurant during this time. He will not pay attention to us or ask us for a drink order. He also will not start out saying his name or he going to be served today like he did before. When you watch him be with other people he will properly introduce himself. “My name is Tanner, I will be your server today. What can I get started for you with. ” But when he comes up to my significant other and I, “Do you need drinks today or are you ready to order.” Normally it takes him about 15 minutes just to come back up even if he seated us. My significant other and I got used to just ordering when he comes because he will not come back after ordering our drinks or even to give our drinks for a very long time, we waited around 30 minutes before he decided to come take our order and give our drinks. He also dismisses us when we say excuse me to him. Like we’re not there. The owner sits in the restaurant sometimes and works on paperwork but does not do notice her server not helping us. I wish she pays attention a lot more like she did when the food was probably not facing the right way to the customer. One time she watched us but didn’t do anything to address her server not paying attention to us. I am very disappointed I enjoyed this place but I do not enjoy her server.

My family and I visited Wa during Restaurant Week. First time there. The deal offered was excellent with appetizer, 2 rolls, dessert and a glass of wine fir $30. Food was delicious, and service fast. The server was very professional, and help us decide as he knew the menu very well. We definitely will go back!

The food was great and the decor was very appropriate. The place feels like an authentic sushi restaurant instead of a trendy sushi bar that are becoming common in Lawrence.
