Awesome food and service in a beautiful setting with a tranquil view of the river and garden type landscape. My wife us already planning a get-together with other ladies to visit the shops and eat at The Landing. And it's less than an hour drive to POA in Alexandria!

The Landing is located right on main st. Downtown Natchitoches, facing the river. I love the feel of the restaurant. Dim lighting and the street lights inside make a great setting for a chill meeting or lunch date. I ordered the fried green tomatoes and the grilled chicken salad with "meta feta" (not sure I am spelling that correctly) salad dressing. The waitress was sweet enough to bring samples of their dressings for us to try. Although the tomatoes came after the entree, they were still very good. I don't think Ive had too many salads where I ate every last bite, so that says alot. They serve traditional Louisiana creole/cajun dishes like crabcakes, étoufée, etc. But considering my own creole heritage I tend not to order dishes like that. I can't wait to try another dish my next visit.

Don’t miss this! The food: The Landing Filet was perfectly cooked medium rare that could be cut with your butter knife. Sides paired perfectly. The Crab cakes and its sauce where fantastic. We also tried the Wedge Salad - a meal on its own - blue cheese, crumbled bacon and filet, yeah filet. No room left, but tried a sampling of desserts - worth the calories. The setting: classic steak house seating on one side, full bar with unique sofa style booth seating on the other - nice touch. The owner and chef, Randy: We ran into Randy on the street earlier that day. We were trying to map out two attractions near the downtown. He noticed we seemed lost and offered to help. Then proceeded to spend an hour with us driving us to our destinations. Randy’s hospitality is a reflection of many of the Natchitoches merchants we experienced on our visit, but his love of food and passion to share this love sets him apart.

For years our friends have raved about The Landing. Walking through the door at 4 PM we smelled a musty old smell. The hostess was nowhere to be found. When she did show up we had to wait for a table to be cleaned. We waited another 30 minutes and finally had to ask for a waiter. Service and food were terrible. We were told even though it says on the menu that the meal came with a salad they didn’t bring one unless asked. After 2 1/2 hours we had to wait once again for the check. Never again will we enter those doors. Mamas and Papas will get our business for sure just like we always have.
