First rate local Italian. Expert service, terrific food. We had salads, fish, pot roast and baked desserts. All lovely. All served wonderfully on a busy Saturday night. They even took our last minute reservation. Love this place.

I've worked in Waltham on and off for nearly 30 years and just managed to done at La Campania for the first time this past week. I've tried going in the past, but haven't been able to get a table. I highly recommend a reservation. Parking is limited to the street. It's pretty small inside, but well thought out. The menu and wine list are a good size. Not huge, but big enough. The service was extremely good. Attentive, but unobtrusive. The waitress gave thoughtful suggestions when asked. I had two of the specials - mushroom soup and short ribs. The soup had great flavor and texture with a creamy texture contrasted with croutons. There was just enough acidity to make it interesting. The short ribs were perfectly prepared, extremely tender.

Food is very good but the service and ambience wasn't great. As my cocktail was served the waiter splashed it across my blouse & the menu, spilling at least a tablespoon & no offer to replace it. The wine had almost a thimble full of dregs in the glass -- the waiter again was unapologetic, saying "that happens sometimes!" There was an error in the bill (over charge) and the couple next to us loudly played games on their phones throughout their meal. I would not go back.

This is probably my favorite restaurant. The food here is absolutely amazing. I come here for special occasions and every time the food has been perfect. The bread on the table to start is the best bread I've ever had. I always order the duck confit and fig pizza as a starter to share, it's so good, and every main dish I've had, each element in it is perfectly done and the elements mesh well together. If you go here, definitely order the souffle, it's amazing. The service is always incredibly knowledgeable about the food and very attentive, your water glass will never get below half full. The atmosphere feels like a rustic Italian house, but in the fanciest way.
