I am having a hard time writing this. This year was the first year I have been to the Fish in over 10 years. (I only get up that way in winter time and it is usually closed). The first few times I went there it was excellent! I mean to die for great seafood! Well this year I was so excited to go back to the fish as I had heard it was open this winter again. I talked it up to my friends so you can imagine my disappointment when we get there and it is freezing inside ( I am always hot) they are out of a few beers we tried to order, it takes 1.5 hours to get our food and 2 of us get the wrong entree and out of 5 meals only one was good the rest were just ok mine might have been good had I got what I ordered. I am not sure what happened but this is not the place I remember and am doubtful I would return.

Lovely place, just a little north of Harbor Springs proper. I prefer The Fish tacos and crab cakes (because, hey, it's not The Cow). However, there's a little something not on the menu that chef and owner John whips up. It's squash blossoms filled with cheesy risotto, dipped in a light tempura batter, deep fried, topped with a ginger soy teriaki type drizzle. John's delightful daughter, Lorna runs the bar and will pair your squash blossoms a nice white wine from Pond Hill Farm's local vineyards. I go later, after the dinner rush. Enjoy, and remember, tip your server or bartender. 😊😘

Good food. Staffing was thin when we dined. Not their fault as staffing has been hard to come by this summer. We go once or twice a year and it's always good food.

So slooooooow. It was disconcerting at first when the waiter let us know that 3 entrees were unavailable tonight. Then it took 15 minutes to get bread. Then over an hour to get our entrees and they realized at that time that one of the dishes we ordered was also unavailable. Not once did a manager come by to apologize for the slow service or messed up meal. The food is good here, but be warned, you may be waiting to eat much longer than you'd like.

We are at 7:30 on New Year's Eve. The place was packed. The dining experience was 2 hours. Food was good but took forever to come to the table. I'm hoping they were just running out of items on the menu. The scallops were $30 for three scallops. That could be considered very pricey for the middle of no where.
