In 1995, after three visits to the restaurant, I decided I was not happy with the service and lost interest in returning. Then just last month I said to my wife, “We haven’t been to Stivers in 23 years.“ So we went to Stivers for dinner. The food was perfectly fine, no complaints there. However, the service was the same as it was 23 years ago. The waitress was more interested in fulfilling the minimal requirements of waitstaff much like a computer response to its algorithms in what it does. We ordered “diet coke“ and that’s what we got, diet Coke in a can. When we asked why we were not served fountain drinks the waitress said we should have ordered diet Pepsi instead of Diet Coke. That is the kind of response you would expect from a computer. And likewise, you would expect a very cold response from a computer and the waitress was very cold in her response as well. For the tip we calculated 10% to the penny and left that much. In summary I would say that if your dining expectation is to get some food in your gut and that’s all you’re looking for then Stivers would be a perfectly fine choice. I thought the food was fine. But it is just not inviting when the waitstaff treat you like you are a part of the problem. For myself, I see no reason to return to Stivers. I will give it three stars based on the quality of food.

Stopped to see my friend that I haven't seen in 26 years. Got the Prime Rib, it was a generous size and taste wonderful. The service was great and a good atmosphere. Will definitely return.
