I visited on a Friday Morning about 8:30. There were only a few other people eating breakfast when I arrived. They have a sign asking you to wait to be seated. There was no wait as the waitress was ready to accommodate any arriving guests. I was told to sit wherever I chose. The only exception was 1 round table which had a sign on it stating for 5 or more. I did not choose that table :^). I sat at table off to the side. I was asked what I would like to drink, I said coffee. I looked over the menu but was happily distracted by a table topper which offered Weekend Specials. I chose Raspberry Pancakes and added sausage links. My waitress ,a longtime employee, was friendly and has an inviting & warm personality. The Three pancakes were filled with raspberries. Think blueberry pancakes but raspberries instead. Raspberries inside not just on top like some other places. They were fluffy and flavorful. This was a great choice. They also offered Banana Bread French Toast. I am sure it is divine. I have had their Homemade ( recipe from the 60s ) Banana Bread and I’m a fan. I have also had the Raisin French toast which I loved. So the combination of banana bread & French toast, All I can say is Well done Kate's Kitchen. This is why a small place in an awkward location has lasted an become a local favorite. *I was surprised when my bill was retrieved from my table ( I thought to make some correction) but not returned. I was informed by my waitress that someone else had paid my bill. No-one was identified but my appreciation couldn’t be more grateful. There is something to be said for small towns. I will pass the blessing on Atmosphere Kate’s Kitchen is located on West Huron River Drive (next to the train tracks) in Flat Rock Mi. There is limited seating due to the size of the building and it was clean. Daily Special signs posted behind counter on upper wall. Comfortable with a down home feeling about the place Noise Level Fairly Quiet. Normal talking levels in a small location. There was never a train while I visited but I am sure you can hear it when it passes since it is about 30 feet from a crossing Meal Breakfast special Raspberry Pancakes $5.75 Sausage $3.25 and Coffee $1.99. Total $10.99* Competitive prices. Wheelchair Access The restaurant is at street level, seating is at normal levels. No Designated Handicap Parking, but there are a few spaces near the front door. There are public restrooms. My Rating: 3 Stars Ratings range from zero to four stars. Zero is poor, One star, good. Two stars, very good. Three stars, excellent. Four stars, extraordinary (almost impossible to achieve)

My wife, son and in-laws made a visit this past weekend and it was great. Kate's is full of nostalgia from my grandfather taking my mom and I here and as soon as we walked in, it all came flooding back to me. The place hasn't changed a bit, but they dust and maintain their appearance and you'd never guess it's as old as it is. They could use a little more room in the dining room, but that will not shy you away once you've eaten here. We happened to be able to sit right down which is unheard of! Took some desserts home for later, but they shorted us an entire pie (reason for only 4 stars) on accident. Quality, home made food every time. Great place!

The baked goods! DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU ARE ON A DIET. YOU WILL HATE YOURSELF. My favs: biscuits and gravy, cherry pie (best I've ever had - don't telly grandma). But the grilled cinnamon toast with icing will make you weep with joy. Seriously this is life changing.

Great service but nasty sausage patties & flavorless sausage gravy, & heavy, gummy biscuits. eggs were cooked properly & the potatoes were "okay." not going out of my way to go back. oh & they need to educate their younger servers about chewing gum while waiting on people. major health code violation. over all...meh.

They're a little busy and they're only open certain hours in the morning. But they have the best breakfast the best price! Very nice owners. Very Clean.
