Buca di Beppo is one of those restaurants that sounds amazing when someone mentions it, but then falls short in almost every aspect when you visit. For starters, I will say the best part about this restaurant is it's "family style" dinners (aka HUGE portions). No joke, you will not leave this place hungry.
The parts that disappoint me are, most of all, the extremely unorganized services and very messy layout of the building. Now I recognize that asking a business to change it's design is a lot, but with the amount of business this place seems to be doing it needs to be an absolute priority. Every corner is a shortly cut corner, and I could tell by observing the staff that it was a disaster to move around.
On top of that, the busier the place gets, the more of a nightmare it turns into. This to me, is a sign of poor management and not the staff. This place needs a more precise system to operate and move around so that the staff spends less time bumping into one another, and more time helping tables. The rooms that you sit in are small, and when it's packed it's hard to breathe., and the walls that are filled to the brim with novelty things gives the place a cluttered and claustrophobic feeling.
The staff does their best with what they are given, and I can tell that when I come here. If it's not busy here then it's fine, but the design of the place is by far the worst aspect. I will recommend that you come here when it's not during lunch or dinner hours, especially on weekends.
Besides that complaint, the food almost makes it worth it for me, and for that reason I will continue to come here.
