I don’t usually write reviews, but in this case I feel one is warranted. My husband and I have gone to the Pub and had a great experience there and were looking forward to eating at the Tavern. We love history, and enjoy dining at historic restaurants. We have gone to several historic taverns and pubs up and down the east coast. The Tavern was by far the worst and a huge disappointment. And we’re really not that picky. I got the chicken which was good, but the sides were terrible. My husband got the NY Strip steak, which was not only severely over cooked but not actually a strip steak. Tasted more like hamburger meat. Needless to say we sent it back. The manager assured us it would be removed from the bill however it was not, which seemed a little shady. Our server was friendly but kept disappearing on us. He offered dessert to compensate for the steak then left us waiting at least 15 minutes before he came back to take our order. By that time we just wanted to leave. It’s a cool building and I’m sad to say I will probably never go back.

I called twice during open hours for a takeaway. The first time they said the kitchen was under repairs the second time they said they are unable to do takeaway at that time. I had seafood there and my mussles "clams" were tiny (unacceptable if I am paying top dollar for food). I also ordered the ribs + fries and it was terrible (whatever barbecue sauce you're using is a no-go). The fries and reg burger were great. My advice: start deliveries to cater to those that do not wish to pay for valet at the restaurant or leave their front door. Change the barbecue sauce and the rib supplier. When people order a certain burger that seems meaty (I forget its name) let them be reminded that it is not the regular ground beef they are used to because I ordered a burger that I assumed was meaty and it tasted vegan.

The Black Horse is an upscale pub with delicious food and reasonable prices. Everything on the Sunday brunch buffet is excellent. Drinks are strong. Free valet parking is the only option, but the valet is so good our car was waiting for us as soon as we had paid our bill.

Awesome atmosphere. You can fell the history as soon as you walk in. Great food and the bartenders are awesome.

Good food good service. However, they have to change the carpeting under seating areas. The smell of mold and mildew is over powering
