Food and prices are fairly upscale. Everything was cooked to perfection and portions were adequate for a traveler who wants to be satisfied but can't take home leftovers. Quite the liquor selection. Loved the view from our table upstairs by the windows looking out onto the street! The food was amazing and our server was great. Full disclosure, we visited during a winter storm and practically had the place to ourselves, so probably more attentive service than usual, but I'd definitely return during normal hustle and bustle.

What a great place! Great atmosphere and super food. From the mussels to the burger....fabulous experience. We had the sweetest waiter, Liam! We will be back because of him. Oh and don't forget the chocolate custard for dessert... AMAZING!

I went last night. While the wait staff was attentive and sweet, the food was lack luster for the price. My fish was cooked fine but lack flavor. The 4 mini carrots were burnt and the 8 mini potatoes were hard and inedible. I didnt eat most of my dinner. It was 29 dollars. I just wanted to leave without saying anything. So disappointed.

Great service with friendly attentive staff and amazing food. Had the Philly cheesesteak (what else would you have in Philly) and it was the best I'd ever tasted. Easy 5 stars

We were in town this weekend because our daughter was having thyroid surgery. Although the surgery was on Monday, we decided to arrive on Friday and enjoy ourselves as we have never been to Philadelphia. Philadelphia is such a beautiful city and a wonderful place to visit. What made our visit so special however, was our time spent at red owl Tavern. The food was excellent, our kids enjoyed their waffles and the cute little trays they were served on. My husband and I also enjoyed our meals I had the eggs benedict and he had French toast. I also received the best service I have ever had in my life! Our waiter's name was Richard. He was extremely attentive and seem to have a deep interest in who we were as people. He asked us lots of questions and sounded as though he genuinely wanted to get to know us. Hey play tic-tac-toe with our children, he told us jokes and even showed us magic tricks. On top of all this we explain to him that we were in town for the surgery. Our daughter was going to eat out as much as possible because before the surgery. As she would have to stop eating early the night before and wouldn’t be able to have anything a while after the procedure. So for the entire weekend we were spoiling her with burgers and all sorts of ice ream and other junk food. After the surgery Monday afternoon Megan was greeted with balloons, flowers, a teddy bear and a bag full of her favorite candies and a hand written letter from our waiter Richard. To say he listened to what all of her favorites were, would be an understatement he completely nailed it! We were all so happy that we cried tears of joy. We seriously can't thank him enough. Meeting him and having that experience was worth the visit all by itself. Thank you very much red owl tavern and thank you very much to our waiter Richard!
