Originally from New York and now living in the southeast it was great to be back North to enjoy the sounds, flavors and ambiance of traditional Turkish/Mediterranean cuisine. Ordered only dinner, but it was so tasty and full of flavor! I had the salmon steak with a big and colorful green salad. The salmon was cooked perfectly! Moist and savory! The herb dressing was delicious. My husband had the Turkish Ravioli. He said the first bite was an amazing combination of the yogurt sauce followed by the taste of lamb and Turkish and spices bursting in his mouth! Service was great, good was hot. I definitely recommend! This place is a must if you're in the Carlstad/Rutherford/East Rutherford area.

I've ordered takeout from Hunkar for lunch several times and it has always been a positive experience. Their lunch specials are a good amount of food for a reasonable price. The staff is always pleasant and helpful, and the quality of the food is great. While I've never eaten in at the restaurant, the dining area is clean and well-decorated. I've tried many other Turkish restaurants in the area and Hunkar is definitely one of my go-to spots for reliably good food.
