My wife of 45 years is a second-generation Italian and a gourmet cook. We rarely eat out at restaurants and even more-rarely at Italian restaurants. But, tonight was Christmas Eve and, for the first time in a decade, we did not have family over for the traditional fish-only Christmas Eve dinner. So, we tried Monticello based upon the reviews that we had read. This restaurant exceeded our expectations regarding menu selection, quality of food and service. The food here is like homemade food. This place is not a restaurant....you feel like you are eating at someone's home. Every meal is individually prepared, the presentation of the food was artistic, the seasoning was appropriate and the taste was spectacular. We were served by Peter, who was a consummate professional and made sure that we enjoyed the food and that it was prepared the way that we desired. This place is a gem. When you dine there, you will learn what real Italian food is really all about.

My husband and I chose this restaurant because they are on open table, and we are so glad we did. What a great experience! It is such a cozy spot, the food is interesting style Italian, and our service was fantastic.

I will unfortunately never go back here again due to the awful management. We loved this place and recommended to all our friends for about two to three years. We made a reservation for New Year’s Eve and they told us to call back to leave our credit card info. So I called back and gave my info. Then we get a call a week later saying they had to cancel our reservation due to the fact we never called with our info. To make along story short both me and my husband had to argue with the manager that we did indeed give our info....I told her I personally called and spoke to someone and she did nothing but say that we do not. So unprofessional. So disappointing. Not the way to run a business.

Favorite Italian BYO in Red Bank. Always great food, and their specials are worth trying. Very relaxed, not rushed atmosphere here. It looks tiny from the outside, but it's very roomy in. Kind and attentive staff.

I love this place. I have been here a handful of times for special events. The service is great and the food is even better
