Loved this place when we were here last year... Went back this week & were greeted by hotel staff telling us they were CLOSED for an undetermined amount of time... Trying to reorganize "again" as he put it.

Just spent over $300 for six people to eat a Thanksgiving meal that, frankly, wasn't even as good as the one they served at my kid's public middle school for $4. The food arrived cold. All of it. The "stuffing" was a huge pile of under-cooked wild rice with a couple of croutons that may or may not have been made out of ciabatta bread, the mashed potatoes had huge chunks of potato and were flavorless, the green beans were decent, but unintentionally chilled; and the turkey was overdone. Desert was a tiny square of pumpkin pie that was really a crisp, and it was accompanied by a small scoop of very good coffee ice cream. The service was average-to-slow, and we waited an unacceptable amount of time for our check, to the point where we just told half of our party to go ahead and take off, because we were obviously there for the long haul. We would have asked for the check . . . if our server, or even a wandering waiter, had been at all visible.. The ice water was icy, so there was at least some consistency present. Never going back. Ever.

We were a table of 4. Christmas Eve dinner was Extremely disappointing. The steak was tough and tasteless. The salmon dish was luke warm at best, and undercooked. The Host appeared to be in a severe state of panic for no good reason. The only redeeming aspect of the evening at La Tabla was the cheerful and friendly waitress. Our experience was totally contrary to prior visits--don't know if it was just an off night or different/new management.

Our family arrived for Sunday brunch with reservations for a party of 12, and a very large table was ready and waiting for us. Some of us ordered breakfast, the teens all wanted lunch. This made it complicated for the kitchen, but every order came out correctly! Our server, Joseph Chavez, made SURE each and every one of us had every little thing we wanted....extra this, more of that....and we never had to ask for ANYTHING. Water, Coke, coffee, would just appear without anyone asking. What attentive service! This is my new favorite in Santa Fe. I'd like to do it again and hope Joseph is still there. :-D. If you go, try the malted pancakes!

The roast duck with blackberry sauce, butternut squash ravioli, cooked spinach, and cherry tomatoes was excellent. We also recommend the salmon with risotto and the prickly pear cactus flan. All beautifully plated. Excellent food with upscale prices. Well worth it for any foodies out there!
