Never had a bad meal here. I've been maybe 20 times. It's American Mexican food, with a slight twist. Menu is simple and not a novel, food is great, staff are great, time is slightly slower than I want but it gets done timely. Very happening place in the area. Everyone has been to Despos! Please go and eat. I almost always get the "Sea Platter" and it's great.

There are not many Mexican restaurants in Lake Placid so we chose this one in spite of the low ratings. We were served with cold and broken chips as a start, which was never refilled (there seems to be a $5 charge for refill), which never happened at other Mexican restaurants we visited all over the world. The menu was confusing - not authentic Mexican food at all - and everything was overpriced. A burrito with “one filling of your choice” costs $17. One of us ordered a $10 burrito and was asked “do u want rice and beans”? We said yes and found out later on the bill that rice and beans had a $5 additional charge. One of us ordered a frozen margarita - tastes like mango smoothie, watery and no alcohol - and found out later that it costs $9 plus $2 to have it “frozen”. The waitress was overall friendly but we can’t recommend this place. We were on ski vacation and loved everything in Lake Placid except this dinner experience.

Great Mexican food with friendly service. Bar has the best margaritas in town! And don't forget to try the crying leprechaun challenge

If I had a picture of the owner throwing myself and my dairy free vegetarian girlfriend out of the restaurant I would post it. The meal opened with an incredibly inattentive waitress who served us watery margaritas. This was followed up by a main course of abuse by the owner. When asked what vegetarian option were available, he response was Tortillas, beans, and rice. When pressed about why the kitchen staff couldn’t be alittle more accommodating we found ourselves being escorted out and told the cops were going to be called. I am a cook I take pride in my food making sure what I serve appeals to all tastes and dietary restrictions.
