I Had my 2nd opportunity to visit Occasions II with the most recent visit on Mothers Day 2018. The atmosphere is great for entertaining a large group of people via a buffet style dinner. We had a group of 25+. The food was good and hot. However, it was not plentiful. I missed out on the Mac & cheese even after 3 refills. I couldn’t stand by the buffet waiting as it took a while to replenish the emptied pans. The green beans ran out, but the cabbage was delicious. The black-eyed peas & corn was yummy but I was confused by the dark squash casserole - the taste was not bad but the coloring was way off. The baked fish stuffed with crab dressing was delicious - the fish was firm & the stuffing mixture moist & flavorful. And, I also enjoyed the fried fish even though it was a bit saltier than I like & I heard others make the same comment about the fried chicken which I didn’t try. The turkey breast was moist and delicious. But I may be partial since I thoroughly enjoyed the singing that was served while my turkey was sliced. That was a treat - the gentleman carried his tunes really well. Although I don’t eat them, my older family members were disappointed that there was no pigs feet left by the time we were seated at 4pm. Thank goodness for the senior citizens & children’s discounts (5 & under free, 6-11 & SR’s half price)! Or else I wouldn’t have been very happy. Since they don’t “promise” what will be served on the buffet, it’s hard to complain about what you don’t get. But, personally, I don’t think the available options are really worth the prices charged even if it does include “unlimited“ servings of several meats (4), sides (5), bread (3), desserts (4) and a drink. The waitresses are always very accommodating and pleasant. Their beautiful smiles are welcomed & appreciated. Since my extended family loves the place & there’s more good than bad, I’ll probably return and pay the prices charged, all with a lovely smile on my face.

Occasions is a buffet style soulfood resturant. Every item on the menu is seasoned well. The have a variety of foods & desserts. Children under 6 eat free!

The food tastes good but there is not a wide variety. It's basically three meats, four sides and two desserts. There is also only one serving line which can take a while bc there is only one pan for every dish. But the food is really good.
