It's got a nice atmosphere. I like the idea behind the theme of the restaurant. Greetings were pleasant. Our host provided superb service and seated us promptly. We initiated our meals with the calamari appetizer and it was excellent. Beautifully crip breading and soft calamari. Its a hard balance that not a lot of restaurants can achieve during a rush. We followed up by having the calabash lunch platter. The flounder lived up to the comments made from many people in the other reviews. It was seasoned enough to highlight the natural flavor of the flounder without undermining it. The shrimp option however was a little disappointing after the experience of the calamari. The crispness was a hit and miss within the same order. Half of them were nice and crispy while the other half of the serving was a little bit "soggy" or softer than expected. All in all the customer service alone and the atmosphere will definitely have made me consider future trips here when I'm in the area.

This place is amazing! Went to Big Daddy’s last night and the customer service prior to trying to sit was terrible, plus they couldn’t accommodate for 8 people on a patio! That’s the best looking part of their restaurant and they couldn’t make it happen! None the less, we decided to try Jack Mackerels and I was very impressed with the guest service even at the front door. Took no time to get us a seat on the patio and when I mentioned this was a celebration week for my wife’s birthday, the head lady said “you want us to sing happy birthday?”, “let me see who I can gather up”. After our meal, she literally had the entire crew come out and sing happy birthday! Blew my expectations out of the water! They were all awesome and I know it’s not typical that this happens, but you should definitely make that a thing! Your customer service is already top notch, take making experiences and memories to the next level. When we come back to Kure Beach, we are for sure eating back here! Great job!

The flounder is fantastic here. Fresh and delicious. Better than anything British (and I used to live in Old Blighty). I docked a star for the generic "french fries" that are coated with something that neither the adults or the kids in our group cared for. Please folks, just cut your own potatoes. You could have the best "fish and chips" on the Carolina coast. Your food is worthy of better accompaniments :) The staff are friendly and helpful. If you get to sit up on the roof you can see glimpses of the ocean and a nice view of downtown Kure Beach.

Stopped in for a quick meal and got more than we paid for! Amazing bloody Mary’s and oysters. The flounder was amazing too! Great family atmosphere and comfortable seating at our table. We couldn’t have picked a better day to come out for a meal! We will definitely come back for another fantastic meal!

My favorite restaurant on the island. The food is consistently great. They have 40% off entrees every Wednesday during the off-season. They also have some delicious specialty cocktails at reasonable prices as well as daily bar specials. The staff are some of the friendliest people I've met. Hang out at the bar and you're sure to make a new friend. Love this place!
