I like the fact that this is a non profit place for a good cause. It is cool to see this place give back to the community. I personally was just not a fan of the style of cooking. The food is very authentic southern. The corn bread has bits of corn and is pretty dense. I enjoy the softer muffin like corn bread. The black eyed peas we're on par with what I have had before. The BBQ chicken was good, but nothing to rave about.

Nice atmosphere. Delicious food. Friendly wait staff. I ordered a salmon dish here along with butter beans, collard greens and macaroni and cheese. The taste of the side dishes instantly took me back to Sunday dinner at my dear Granny's home. Absolutley delicious. U can really taste the love/soul in the dishes here. I also ordered the crab cake appetizer which was very fresh and choked full of succulent crab meat. For dessert, I had to have the banana pudding. Again it made me reminisce of times passed. This place has the best Soul food that I've tasted in Uptown Charlotte!

Everything we had was spectacular! Food, service, atmosphere were all superb. I had the shrimp and grits - I’m very picky with this dish and the consistency and flavor was definitely on point! Our toddler had Mac and cheese along with green beans - he devoured the green beans! My husband had steak and mashed potatoes which he said was fantastic and our daughter had pot roast and collard greens - her plate was licked clean! Our server was phenomenal and very knowledgeable!

Got the pan fried chicken, the breast was dry and needed more seasoning. The greens I got were mostly stems and teared like nothing but pork. Corn bread was dry and not sweet at all if you like sweet cornbread don't order. Mac and cheese was really good. And that awful potato salad tasted like mayo and potato's and that's it, no eggs, no relish, no mustard and no paprika, DO NOT ORDER IT. Best thing was the service was quick

My wife and I come to town about 2 times a month during basketball season and we are always on the hunt for some good food when we are in town. While out for a morning walk we saw the Kings Kitchen and looked it up on yelp. I'm happy we went to the kings kitchen. The staff was super friendly but not over attentive, and the food was really good. We had the pimento cheese with some really good tasting bread as an appetizer and it was tasty. I had the tri-tip steak with fries and mushrooms, while my wife had the pot roast with mac and cheese and mushrooms. The meals were prepared really well and everything was great tasting. We can't wait to go back and try some of the other dishes. I highly recommend trying out the Kings Kitchen.
