I stopped in with my mom and dad, along with my mom's first cousin. We were warmly greeted, and promptly seated. The food, while not exactly the healthiest, was exactly what we needed for our comfort. We shall return!

Have eaten here many times. Very disappointed tiday. Wife and I went for lunch today. 30.00 total for Sunday. The sign says ask for fried chicken livers, fried gizzards, fried okra and squash. Ask the waitress for fried chicken livers and gizzards. After I go get some food while I wait for the livers and gizzards, she comes and says we are out of livers, gizzards and okra. 30.00 and can't get things the signs advertise ask waitress for.

All meats on the buffet are usually really good but what sets Fred Chason's Gransons apart for me is their vegetables. They have a great selection of well seasoned southern-style vegetables. The staff here is friendly. They will also often make something fresh for you if you request it. The only thing I wish was a little better are the cake & pie deserts. I don't hold this against them however, their food is so good it's hard to even make it to desert. I'd recommend the simple and sweet peach or blueberry cobbler.

One of the best local restaurants in this area. THEY STILL HAVE FATBACK ON THE BUFFET!!! It's thin but it's there. Good price and staff is friendly. Seafood option is cooked fresh on request. No more cold shrimp or fish at this place. Awesome!!! Big area, cause they need it on Saturday and Sunday. Private sector for parties also. The fried chicken is NC grade batter and cooked juicy not dry. All greens are southeastern salty not sugared. Who puts sugar in collards anyway.... Those Down easterners???? Lol. Only open select days a week but some say that is a sign of a good restaurant. Rumor had that they were closing up but they have not so far. This is good as I like to visit and eat from time to time. I also know several folks from out of town that come every weekend. It is a gem. Come on down or up and give it a try.

It’s not that the food is bad, just not great. What is absolutely annoying is the full price for a buffet meal and then you wander down the serving lines and are greeted by empty servers, primary the seafood. This is the rule, not the exception. Then you see the takeout people come through that are looking seafood and guess what, wait 30 minutes and maybe we’ll cook some! What the hell! If it is a buffet, then stock it or put the sign on the front window and charge for what you serve or just quit deceiving the customers. I’m sure the problem will soon take care of itself based on my last two experiences. Never Grandsons again.
