I used to be a huge fan of Mayflower. I thought it was the best. I've eaten at the one in Burlington since it opened and it has truly gone down hill in every area. The last time I ate there I ordered a large flounder and jumbo shrimp. Fried. The food arrived faster than normal, looked okay, but the fish was so soft it was like it had been boiled in water first, or maybe twice fried. The shrimp seemed as though they were reheated. Hush puppies were not hot. The service was good. The people were polite. This seems to be the new norm for what to expect. Very disappointing food wise. When checking out , I was asked how it was. I remarked about the food politely but was left hanging for a response. I paid my bill and left disappointed again. I've eaten at other Mayflower restaurants and my experience in Burlington was the worst. It was my favorite at one time. No longer.

On the menu, it talked about steamed crab platters. I ordered the steamed 5 cluster crab platter. It came out with old bay all over it, which I didn't ask for. I just let it go. Then I go to crack into it. I took my first bite and it was NOT good. It tasted boiled. I was thinking it was just me, so tried another and it was the same thing. I asked the server if they were boiled and she said yes. Well, I still tried. Since I am 5 months pregnant and was craving crab legs, I tried again. I couldn't do it. If you eat crab legs, there is an immediate difference in boiled and steamed. They took care of it, and only charged us for the sides... I was thoroughly disappointed. The only reason I would ever go back is for the server, Julie. She was absolutely phenomenal. She went above and beyond for everything! She interacted with my kids, and was just great. The only pleasant part of our dinning experience at the mayflower. Oh, before we left, I saw a suggestion box. As I finished filling out the card, the manager ran up to me insistent upon seeing the card. She said "I HAVE to see what you put in that card. It comes to me anyway." Then took the card out of my hand...Which I felt was extremely disrespectful. So much for it being anonymous. Definitely will not be going back.

Went there with my wife for lunch today. Had two of the popcorn shrimp plates. Best lunch for the money I will be back! Love the cole slaw and all food was hot. Waitress was a very nice older lady who took very good care of us.

The food was as expected, large orders and good service. The cocktail.sauce is horrid though. Take your own if you're a horseradish and ketchup mixture lover. The oysters were fresh and the batter on our fried food was good. We'll be back.

Went for lunch today. Ordered jumbo shrimp and scallops combo. I spit out the first scallop. Didn't taste right. Pulled the batter off another scallop and tasted it. Still tasted funny. Not sure what was wrong but I sent them back. I ordered the trout instead and it was ok but, by then, I wasn't really hungry and was disappointed that the scallops were bad. This is the first time I've not liked the food but my mother, who was with me, commented that her friends had complained about the quality of the food. Lesson learned.
