First, the only positive was the staff trying to please us. However, that wasn't enough. We were very disappointed with food. The quality, presentation and taste was not good. Many in our large family group did not even eat their food. (Even though very hungry.) For the high prices on the menu, the food should have been fresh and of much better quality. It wasn't good at all. A few were brave and ate it. By the way, I really don't like giving bad reviews, but in this case I feel that I need to warn unsuspecting people. This restaurant/bar is in a seasonal vacation location. Be careful, since there may deals to send overflow of seasonal visitors to this location by another restaurant. That's what happened to us. This was the only low point in our North Carolina coastal vacation.

So, Our family has been coming to Frank and Clara's for YEARS (long before the recent change in ownership). Sadly, the change did not go well for the restaurant. We went last year and were not really impressed but chalked it up to new-ownership transitions and gave it a second chance this year. There wont be a third... As we were seated (at one of 4 tables on a Friday night) the table behind us was served flounder and shrimp and promptly reminded the staff that they had asked for no shrimp as they were allergic. We ordered and were brought seafood bisque, which was cold (tepid) and had to be sent back. They then discovered they were out but comped it with new England clam chowder which, to their credit, was the best thing we had (and the bread is good too). Shrimp and scallops were ordered but shrimp and oysters were delivered. The side of quinoa was cooked well, but was basically unseasoned with no add-ins. To his credit, our waiter was amazing. Funny and attentive (we had him last year too). The short of our visit was this: there were too many mistakes by the kitchen, and safety concerns (food temp and disregard of allergies) which is why we wont be returning. Sorry guys, good luck.

Thanks for the great service and great food. The entertainment was awesome and my entire party was very pleased. You made our friend feel very special on her Birthday :)
