The Smoke Pit was an impulse decision while traveling on I85 and it proved to be one of the best dining experiences ever. We split a combo BBQ of brisket and burnt ends. The sides of Texas green beans, sweet potato tots and Cole slaw were amazing also. The service was fast and our waitress was delightful.

At first the smell of hickory smoke gets you going. The staff is friendly and quick to get you seated and ready to order. The brisket is unbelievable, thick, lean, cooked to perfection, as is all their menu choices. Overall an excellent BBQ restaurant!

I recently visited the smoke pit with optimism and even took a guest there for lunch. No 1 If you are looking for local flavor or Carolina Barbeque this is not the place to go. One look at the menu and there was nothing affordable. This was lunch so my bias may be showing but there was nothing affordable to order . In NC if you see tacos on the menu...Run and that is what we did. We had already ordered iced tea and a coke. I relayed to the waitress that we really did not want to order lunch as it was not what we were looking for. 1 tea and coke plus very small tip was $6.00. Would have thought you were in Starbucks or something. This place has Franchise written all over it. Go for a local place with local color and enjoy a great barbecue meal some where else.

I'm originally from KC, Missouri and it's pretty hard to find burnt ends in North Carolina...when I heard about The Smoke Pit, I had to try it! I had a burnt ends sandwich on Texas toast, a dragon pork taco, fried okra, and a bottle of Cheerwine. The food was excellent (the taco alone was HUGE), and the portions were quite generous. The service was great, my server (Dana) was very nice and attentive, and my food came out hot, fresh, and quickly. It's a bit pricey, but you will get what you pay for. Definitely worth a try, and probably a return trip!

If you're looking for the best smoked meats in town, then stop by the Smoke Pit ! You will be amazed and so happy that you did. The food has this addictive flavor that makes you want to sample their other dishes right. The service is speedy and fantastic. They found us a table quickly even though the place was packed & we had a toddler plus two other school age kids and 4 adults. You won't be disappointed. 😀
