The grilled rib eye sandwich was tender and juicy. The chicken soup tasted home made and was good. The cheeseburger, sadly was rather disappointing. It was extremely rubbery, dry and had obviously been cooked from frozen. Yuck! And the tomatoes on both sandwiches weren't even close to ripe. They were green. Yuck again! I was really looking forward to a good, juicy burger with juicy, ripe tomatoes. When I asked if they had any ripe tomatoes I was told that this is how their tomatoes came in. Huh? So why serve them that way unless you just don't care? Why not just get some decent tomatoes instead of basically telling your customer to stick it? They could see I was clearly disappointed with my meal and ate less than a quarter of it, but no one offered to correct the problem and I didn't want to make a fuss and embarrass my lunch companion, who was enjoying their meal. The restaurant was devoid of other customers except for one, and this was at 12:00 noon on a week day. I know now why. They don't care about the food, which means they don't care about their customers. It's sad. I used to love eating at Alex's years ago. I hope they get their priorities straightened out. It used to be such a great place to eat. I miss it.

The hawaiian pancakes come with four cubes of canned pineapple and a pinch of coconut flakes. The strawberry waffle has cold strawberry topping on it. It just wasn't as expected- especially from all of the rave reviews here. Prices are decent, but if the food isn't great, what's the point?
