After reading all the wonderful reviews we made the drive from Newark for dinner to try it out. Just walking in,we were pleased. Really nice atmosphere and although busy and a wait..it was a Friday night so we expected that may happen. We were lead to a table along the walkway in front of the bar to wait for our table. The hostess was friendly and honest by telling us the bartender may not see us and if we wanted a drink, I would have to go up there. I did and bought a really good martini. As we talked and waited for a table to open..we had a great time. A table came open and we were seated. At this point we have been there around 40 minutes. We waited and waited and even asked someone busing the table beside us if we could see a server. He seemed to go to find one. My wife doesn't even have a water after being there nearly an hour. When we still saw no one after being there for over an hour, we just got up and left and no one said anything to us. We had hopes to go to a local store that would've still been open had we been served within reason. But after wasting an hour and we still hadn't eaten, it was closed before we ever even found dinner somewhere else. It was pretty disappointing.

Zak's is a Mexican American restaurant in downtown Zanesville. It has been open for many years and features a well established menu. The hours are limited to Wednesday through Saturday evenings. Zak's has a unique but tasteful decor with several interesting spaces which can support intimate dining as well as groups. The food and service are reliably good. I like the blackened chicken myself. The restaurant is not wheelchair friendly.

It's lovely. Beautiful atmosphere and a wonderful grey goose Martini... however, once seated we waited and waited and then asked to see our waiter..and then waited and waited without even speaking with a waiter or receiving a water. After an hour and as I had paid for the Martini at the bar we just left. The menu looked great and we hope to maybe go again to give it another go.

I really liked Saks and I got a piece of cheesecake to go home the next day my wife and I went to eat it and much to our suprise, there were two pieces of plastic in it.My wife called them up to let them know about it.they did not want us to bring it in to show them they told us to drive back in and they would write us a check for the cheesecake.we were very disappointed about the way they handled it I don't think we will be going back to Zaks. They no longer serve the round cheesecake.they are now serving it cut in pie shape. 5/3/18
