Awesome huge sandwiches on homemade bread! A half is about all I can eat. I've heard most everything else they serve is good too but I can't pass up the Reuben. The desserts are pretty spectacular too, you can gain 5 lbs just looking at them. I highly recommend The Truffle Hunter.

Overall, the food had potential to be good but was poorly executed. Had lunch in the late afternoon when it was completely dead. So no excuses for being backed up etc. Ordered a chicken pesto sandwich and a turkey basil club sandwich. The chicken was so overcooked it had to be sent back. The turkey sandwich had huge chunks of red onion that completely overwhelmed the sandwhich. The restaurant itself is very run down. In separate need of a remodel. The bathroom was absolutely filthy disgusting. I can't even imagine what the kitchen looks like. Will probably not go back.

Great staff and wonderful food. The sandwiches are huge - a half order is plenty big. A bit on the slow side but was worth the wait.

I am not a big reviewer, however I had to do this. Went there last night 1/27/18. TERRIBLE! The high school girl who showed us our table, said the quiet inside tables were for big groups not two at a table that would seat four. I should have left then. Seated on what was once a porch, with cars and firetrucks whizzing past the windows on Powell street, the tables are so close to each other everyone was whispering and you could still hear their conversation, and we were ignored by staff. I should have left then. My wife's dinner, beef something was good but just barely warm. My $14 chicken something salad was huge but covered with green onions and the "chicken" was a very over cooked, nearly burned formerly frozen cutlet. I was able to gag down but little of it. Do yourself a favor. If you want no service, no atmosphere, thrown together just warmish food, go to McDonald's. It was our anniversary. I should have spent a few bucks and prepared a nice quiet meal at home. A little soft music, glass of wine, wife and I could have had a nice evening instead of what we got. If you're searching, definitely no truffles to be found here.

Still the best sandwiches I've ever had. We've lived in Santa Fe New Mexico for almost 20 years. It's considered a "foody" town. But every time we come back to the Portland area, I'm reminded how little Santa Fe has to offer. Truffle Hunter is just one example.
