First time at this place. Thought I'd try it as a new option for lunch downtown. $17.75 for a veggie wrap and a very SMALL serving of wine. The wine was served through a pass through window (here's your $8.00 splash of wine, in a smudged up glass, come get it.) Had the veggie wrap, side salad, and a 'glass' of Chardonnay. The salad and wrap were nice and fresh. The wine, an Oregon Chardonnay, was very good. The wrap supposedly had hummus (which is why I ordered it). Had to deconstruct the wrap and search through a mound of the same greens as the side salad to find a light schmear of something that was probably the hummus. Salt and pepper are also self-serve at the "condiment bar," which I had to ask an adult about. Why did I have to ask an adult? Because the server was, in my estimation, 7 or 8 years old (Spring break activity, I suppose.) I had to ask the server for silverware and a napkin. The ambience is drab and uninviting--get some plants and play some Reggae music, for Pete's sake! I'm giving two stars, rather than one, because the food was fresh and the splash of wine was good.

Great new location! Close to shopping & downtown.. The food & beverages are delicious...love the people & positive vibe! If you're downtown Salem, pop in for one of their fabulous desserts!

I used to come in here all the time. I liked the staff and some of the wraps were really good. I'm not sure what happened, but the new location is way too small and feels cramped. It's hard to get to and hidden away. Also not a huge fan of the new staff (really sad and unhappy to be there, it seems). Worst of all though is the changes in food. Maybe they switched brands or cooks or something but the meat all tastes very bland and over cooked. The wraps are too thin and mostly just lettuce anyway. Which is so sad because those were my favorites. :( Anyway this is NOT the same Birdies from Keizer. I'd say the only thing that's keeping it from being one star is the coffee is still alright.

I cant say enough good things about Kat and Birdies Bistro. She is one of those "special" people that are so rare in the world now. Wonderful, friendly, service and fantastic food. And they are always happy to "tweak" it to suit your needs. And it seems they have not changed a bit after the move. My favorites are the "Birdies Club" on sourdough, and the "Three Little Pigs", which you could break up into 3 seperate "lite" breakfasts if you choose. I cant help but notice the poor reviews. And I know for a FACT they are from a disgruntled employee and their friends. Sad when lies by nasty folks can be spread, where the accused cannot defend themselves. I hope you disregard them and go find out for yourself. :D
