I don't know what the big deal is about this place. It's not fancy, food is only decent. We tried the combo appetizer fried ... nothing special there. Clam chowder tasted more like potato than clams. The steak was ordered medium and with mushrooms and it came out too rare and no mushrooms. Our waiter did not come back to check on us and I had to wave him down to get that steak fixed. And it still was under cooked when it came back a second time. The baked potato skin was rubbery like it had been out too much long. The onion rings were overcooked. It is just way overpriced for how little you get and what low quality.

The best place for food hands down. I got the combination samples with a bowl of the world famous clam chowder. Deep fried and delicious. I would advise, whatever you get, make sure a side of the delicious clam chowder is there with it. The service was okay, and the average age of those dining were on Medicare, but this may have been since I went during March. Anyway, Norma's is must for any Oregon trip.

For years we’ve had great experiences. Has always been a destination when we arrive at the coast. However during busy spring break week, the place was busy, service quality way down. While we felt the food was ok. I suggest a modified menu for busy seasons, so customers can be served fast and employees don’t lose their patience.

The food quality is amazing and fresh! Portions are generous! Hard pressed to find better quality anywhere, including Portland! Also family friendly and casual. Just can't say enough about Norma's!

Ordered the halibut. It came with a salad:. mixed greens with canned baby shrimp. The huckleberry vinagarette was tasty. Would have been good with some if the homemade bread they showed on the menu accompanying only the chowder. Baked potato was great, served with 2 butter pats and sour cream. The halibut was swimming in butter, totally bland. Good thing I bring my own lemon, Mrs. Dash and lemon pepper in my purse. Asked for a kitty box (sort of like a doggy bag, but literal). I mixed up over half my fish and my companions de-battered cod from her fish and chips (greasy) to stash behind a dumpster for a feral kitty. $38 before tip just fir my dinner. Way overrated. Save your money. I must note:. I was in a party of seven and the waitress did great with separate checks and on a busy Friday night. 5 stars for service, 2 stars for food.
