I stayed here early May with a friend for a relaxing weekend away, and it was wonderful! The room was beautiful and simply but elegantly decorated. The owner and manager were lovely and very helpful when deciding what to do in Newport. Location is surrounded by restaurants and shops - their own restaurant was very good, I recommend the creme brulee for dessert! Our room included breakfast, which was a parfait and a freshly-baked (still warm) pastry-of-the-day. The bar next store does get very loud at night, but we were provided ear plugs on the nightstand, which I thought was a nice gesture.

Elegantly simple, this pretty little restaurant is an oasis of calm with tuxedoed wait captains speaking in quiet voices and every one moving deliberately and without rush. You are greeted immediately when you arrive in a friendly way that isn't overly familiar or casual. The food is perfect. It's complex and layered and beautifully presented every single time. The one time I had enough leftover to ask for a take home box even THAT was presented prettily. Go. Call now, make a reservation. Don't wear jeans, there is a dress code.

Fine dining French restaurant. Business casual. Chef Albert Bouchard. Saw in zagat.

This was an event we planned and anticipated for weeks - that much time is needed to guarantee a reservation. The experience was all we hoped for and more. The restaurant is charming, in the heart of Thames Street. Fortunately, parking is available a block away by a pass collected at the reception desk. Our food and wine stunned our guests, who were enjoying Bouchard's for the first time. Tomato tart and lobster & asparagus in puff pastry got raves. Stuffed roasted lobster, pork loin in puff pastry, and duck with a coffee rub made fine choices for entrées. We opted for apple tarts all around, but the kitchen ran out of apples, allowing only two tarts, so another choice was a very pleasing strawberry sorbet. A souffle dessert is always mentioned at the outset, to allow preparation time, but we are never sure we will "have room." Service was all we expect, and more, pleasant but unobtrusive, anticipating our wishes, for instance providing the label off a wine bottle our guests enjoyed. It is always a highlight to visit Bouchard's.

When it comes to fine dining I look nowhere else. The food and service are exquisite. I use this restaurant for very special occasions.
