Excellent lunch. Food was hearty and the service was excellent. The homemade honeysuckle ice cream was crazy good. It's a little bit out of the way, but definitely worth the drive. Highly recommend Girts and Grocery!!

A bit out of the way but very intimate and quite popular. Very limited menu for vegans and those with celiac disease. They make a very good honeysuckle ice cream available on a limited basis. Very casual with some outdoor seating. Parking is limited.

This is my favorite restaurant ever. The tomato pie and praline bacon is to die for. I never eat dessert except for when I come here. Everything is amazing!

I have to admit: I'm pretty damn lucky to live close to Grits & Groceries. My family has a tri-weekly limit eating here. They are open for dinner on Thursdays-- that's when we usually go. This establishment is nowhere near "quaint Belton". At a rural crossroads, it could just as easily be a gas/snack/bait/beer store as is usually found in rural SC. Happily for us, it isn't though, and I'd recommend eating here when you have the chance. Be aware though, that this place is really like eating at someone's house. There's stuff going on, it's small and intimate, and it isn't always consistent. I have had good meals here and I have had fantastic meals here. If I can eat food that is as good as I've eaten here, I'll risk the meals being inconsistent every now and then. The owners are very nice and friendly: they really care about their food. The staff is great and if you become a "regular" they take extra care ensuring your meal is pleasant. This isn't "fine dinning" (whatever that is). This is great food prepared daily that follows seasonal rhythms. Make sure to order as many different items to get their gustatory range. Plan to go two or three times too. If you're on a tight budget, eat in cooking for yourself/family a little more and with what you save, you can pilgrimage to Grits and Groceries several times. They take cash/check, no credit cards. If you forget, they'll issue you an IOU, and you can pay next time or through the mail. I didn't give them a 5.0 because of their inconsistency, BUT and this is important, part of the appeal here is that you're never quite sure how good it will be. Be patient, if they're crowded; they're small and they get very busy. Just be fair and the food will reward you. Thanks Grits and Groceries Owners and Staff!
