I went to Eric’s on Garners Ferry for years and loved everything about it. It’s really too bad that after moving they’ve gone so downhill. The place isn’t bad (but as far as I could tell not handicap accessible so don’t bring grandma). However, the menus are just printer paper stapled together (and much more limited in terms of options than the old Eric’s), and the service is terrible. It’s really common around Columbia to see very young servers, but I’ve never seen so many that were so slow and nervous. It’s clear that they lack basic training and confidence to the point that they had to have the tables labeled in sharpie even though they only have about 20 tables. The bartender was nervous and inattentive and clearly didn’t know how to do anything except pour a beer. We sat for 15 minutes at the bar (only one other person was sitting there) without getting water or menus. We eventually got them when I flagged down the manager, who was not apologetic at all and just said, “don’t worry about it, you’re getting the best service ever.” I can guarantee we were not. What’s sad is I’ve given them three chances since they reopened— you’d think that after so long in business just down the road that they’d know how to run a restaurant.

I used to love San Jose and anxiously awaited their grand reopening. Unfortunately, they moved to a smaller location, and the hostesses have yet to figure out how to accommodate any party larger than 4. My boyfriend and I went on opening night and received horrible service, but the food and drinks were still as amazing as I remembered. I’ve tried to go back twice, with a party of 12 and then 10, and waited over an hour both times only to leave after I watched the hostesses continue to seat every table that came open. If you want to go, sit at the bar! Jamie is fantastic.

I was so stoked when I realized Eric’s San Jose had reopened !!!! The food was incredible, but the service was okay! However , I do realize that they just reopened two days ago and are still getting the hang of things. From what I noticed , they only have about five servers, and two cooks . I believe with the staff they have now, they are doing a fantastic job. They have five young ladies working upfront and making sure everyone is okay!! I believe with time, things will get better, and it will be how it used to be !! I’m sure in a couple of weeks, things will be how they were .

What a hot mess!!!! The place was a madhouse! Staff running about with no organization. Service was super slow and the waitress we had could barely speak English. She messed up my husband’s order for a draft beer twice! Then they didn’t have 2 of the wines selections on the menu. When they did bring me a Chardonnay it was hot. I guess they don’t know that white wine should be served chilled. We finally place our order which came out relatively quick but was botched. I ordered the beef tip chimichanga and what I got was a grilled ground beef burrito. When I questioned it and sent it back the waiter I flagged down said it was their first night opened. Maybe they took over the restaurant and reopened but I researched this on google before we went and it looks like it’s been around a bit. My husband’s food was good. The flavor of the food is excellent if you get what you order off the menu. We were so aggravated we boxed up the food, paid and then left. Such a shame.

To start when seating us we ask for 2 boosters seats that they bring us not only appearing dirty enough to be brought out of the garbage but covered in crawling spiders. Yes I said that correctly. When the waitress acted like she didn’t even want to touch them because they were dirty that should be a sign to clean them. The menu was very small and the food was bland. Our server visited our table maybe 3 times the entire time we were there. We should’ve walked out after the booster seat issue. We definitely won’t be back.
