This restaurant has been going for about 20 years. Meals are excellent. Prices are fair. Atmosphere is pleasant. They have kept the place updated. Service is excellent.

We were there last Saturday night. The food was excellent but...the waiter was rushing us so he could "also have a cocktail." Had to ask for the dessert menu, never asked if we wanted another glass of wine and hovered while we paid the bill. Hire professionals not a grown man who still likes to party and tells your patrons about it.

We love Mondo's, great little hidden gem in James Island right down the street from our house! Having moved from the NYC/North Jerz area, my husband and I are Italian food snobs. This place delivers - excellent homemade pasta dishes, awesome wine selection, and the bread + olive oil is good too! We just went for Valentine's day dinner last night and the artichoke special app was AMAZING! We sat at the counter facing the kitchen and it was fun to watch them work. I was impressed with how calm all the chefs and staff were with how crowded this place was last night! We also love sitting at the outside bar and the friendly bartenders will make you feel like you're family. Everyone is local here and it shows that they have a lot of loyal customers who have been coming for years.

Loved this place one time. Went back 3-4 times and it was not good. Still searching for that first time experience, tried again. My final experience turned me away for good: We were coming in from out if town with my father's ashes and our suitcases in the car. I asked it we could park in one of the 2 open to go spots so the car would be visible, and could move it if need be. We were told no. I asked if they had any to go orders queued, and they didn't. It was early, the restaurant was nearly empty, and they wouldn't budge. I explained that circumstances, and still no. Nice.

Food was OK, having grown up in NYC I wouldn't call the food here exceptional but it was OK for SC. The two stars is mostly for one thing - my 12 yr old daughter saved money all year which she decided to spend on taking me out for dinner as a Christmas present while we were in Charleston. She had converted her money into a VISA gift card as it was easier for her to carry. When she went to pay the waitress refused the gift card saying she couldn't pay with it even though it was a VISA card. I ended up having to pay and had to deal with a very very dissappointed child. Big fail on Mondo's behalf not accepting VISA gift card.
