We eat here on a regular basis. The staff are kind and welcoming. They have an amazing selection on their menu and the food is always absolutely delicious! This is a great spot to grab drinks and apps or for the whole family. They have a nice bar area and wonderful bartenders that go out of their way to get to know you with a smile. I highly recommend this location if you're looking for a good Mexican restaurant. They have another restaurant out in the Cane Bay Area that is equally as good.

Chips and salsa were great. Rio chico steak was disgusting. Tasted like grease, pounded to hell, overcooked, and mostly fat. The green peppers on top were also flavorless. I just don't understand how something is made so poorly. Fajitas weren't as bad as the streak, but larger pieces were tough and chewy. The Rio Chico enchiladas were just ok, they had a strange semi sweet after taste.

My fiance and I are regulars at this restaurant. We live nearby and eat at Rio Chico at least a few times a month (once a week is not uncommon). Honestly, this place is a gem. We've eaten at much ritzier ($$$) Mexican restaurants in the area and the experience just isn't the same. I've read some of the reviews here and they simply don't do this place justice. If you had bad service or bad food, I'm sorry but that's not the norm. Rio Chico has THE BEST SERVICE of any restaurant I've ever been to. The only place even remotely comparable is the sister restaurant Rio Grande over in West Ashley. My fiance and I have clocked how long it's taken to get our food from the time we've sat down to the time the food hit the table, and there have been times when the food is on the table in less than 5 minutes. FIVE. MINUTES. This is a sit down restaurant, not some run of the mill fast food joint. In the first minute, chips and salsa are typically on the table and your drink is either on the way or in your hand. The folks in here are FAST. If you come in during peak hours, you aren't guaranteed this speed, but 95% of the time, this is likely to be your experience. There have been some food complaints in the reviews and I'm just trying to figure out what on Earth these folks ate that they didn't like. Also, to the guy who had an issue with the combinations, ARE YOU SERIOUS?! This menu is huge. There's a ton of options to choose from. If you can't find something to eat on this menu, I hate to break it to you, but you probably shouldn't eat out... ever. My fiance and I have never had anything on the menu that we didn't like. The food is delicious, the portions are huge, and the prices simply can't be beat. I have no shame in raving about this place and my fiance and I talk it up to all our friends and family whenever the opportunity arises. Rio Chico is the standard for us when it comes to Mexican food and this place has earned it. Kudos to the wait staff and management at Rio Chico. My fiance and I will be coming here for Mexican for as long as we live in the Mount Pleasant area.
