We stopped here for breakfast based off of a recommendation from a former employee. That was our first mistake. When we arrived we had high expectations as it was clean and simple. There were plenty of empty seats to choose from (which we should have taken as a sign). The staff was friendly and took our order. The coffee tasted like someone re-used the same coffee grounds for the past month. It was weaker than my great aunt Martha's brittle bones. The biscuit was so old and hard it could've have very well been the same stone David threw at Goliath. The bacon looked like fresh asphalt and could've easily broken a window if thrown. The gravy tasted like someone made an entire pot and added two gallons of water. I don't know if they are trying to be eco friendly or frugal but most of it tasted like it had been there since the restaurant opened. The scrambled eggs were most definitely microwave specials. The one good thing was the pancakes. They were light yet fluffy and seemed to be true buttermilk pancakes. As someone who's grown up eating true southern food this was not anything close to mawmaws home cooking.

Lois's Country Kitchen was very clean and everyone was very nice. We had the buffet, it was well stocked and fresh. The food was very good, home cooking type food (did not taste like it was from frozen or can like a similar diner near by) All in all it was a very good value and good quality food. We will return while in the area.

Lois's is a classic American diner. Simple decor, good service, typical diner food. The lunch hot bar was a surprise for a diner this size. It had good quality hearty (not particularly healthy) southern food. Salad bar was small but fresh and had good variety. Club sandwich was made correctly. Fries are crinkle-cut, probably from frozen, but cooked correctly. Altogether, exactly what you want from a simple diner.
