The atmosphere is eclectic but without being overbearing. The staff was top notch and very helpful and understanding of our questions. The food may not be standard fare, but the preparation was amazing. The elk in particular was so astoundingly delicious that I almost forgot where I was, and according to my wife every bite I took I seemed to zone out and stare off into the distance; I was lost in the flavour and texture of that delectable meat.

Very nice experience. Chef Jon Bonnell greets all the guests before dinner. The menu offers wild game and non traditional entrees and appetizers. A refreshing change from the ordinary. My son had the quail pasta which was outstanding. I had the mixed grill and added elk tenderloin. It was wonderful! Plus an extensive wine list and really good desserts. I Highly recommend planning a dinner trip here.

Fabulous restaurant! Savory Texas food with amazing staff and chefs. One of my favorite local restaurants!

I can't even begin to put into words how delicious our food was. I have seen Bonnell's for years. And always wondered about it. Then I read some reviews. I thought to myself self "Surely all of these people are exaggerating". So, one day I was searching for a new place to take my wife on a date. This time I decided to take her to Bonnell's, and I made reservations. Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. It took us a while to decide what we wanted to eat because it all looked so good. We finally decided. My wife ordered the butternut squash soup, and I ordered the Texas Shrimp & Grits as an appetizer. I have never like butternut squash, nor grits. Somehow, both of these were some of the best tastes I have ever experienced. They were both incredible. For an entree I ordered the pecan crusted reddish, and my wife ordered the grouper, which was the special of the day and with grouper as the main ingredient. I was thinking there was no way the entrees could be better than the appetizers. I was wrong. Both entrees were off the charts in both presentation and taste. The whole experience was probably the best i have ever had at any restaurant in my life. I can't say enough good things about Bonnell's. I can say this much though - they now have new "regulars". My wife and I plan on returning as often as possible. My only regret is that I wasted so many years knowing it was there, but not trying it.

So sad. Bonnell's used to be our favorite restaurant. We've tried Bonnell's 3 times in 4 years, giving it a second and 3 chance after a horrid dining experience with stone crab claws. Each time, the place seems more tired, more dirty and of less quality. Our last meal there was lunch a few weeks ago. Service was kind, but not good. We ordered a Wygu steak ($60) that was extremely tough, came with sides we didn't order and was not seasoned. Done for good. Sad.
