My medium steak came well done and was completely flavorless. Not sure how you manage to make a rib eye flavorless, but mission accomplished. My husband's and daughter's food was obviously frozen and not fresh. But she said the chicken strips and fries were good. Guess it's hard to mess that up. It wasn't the waitresses fault and she was sweet. I informed her the steak was overcooked and she had the manager comp it without me even asking. But we won't be back.

We ate several meals at the Auslander. They were really pretty good. Had a decent schnitzel with gravy. The hot German potato salad was outstanding and the way I remember it from being a kid. The roast beef from the roast beef sandwich was tender and very flavorful. The potato soup was very good also. Overall the prices were very reasonable for the quantity and the quality of the food we got.

This is very good German food. We started with the sausage appetizer served with black bread and cheese area if you get this I would add 1 sausage or person. We also had the pot roast sandwich and schnitzel Burger. Both were very tasty served with hot German potato salad. The atmosphere and menu is very kid friendly and they have both indoor and outdoor seating available. The food was fresh the service was fast and the atmosphere was perfect for a lazy afternoon. For the adults in the group they also had several great German beers on tap.

Out of all the restaurants in Fredericksburg, this one was my favorite. We went there during lunch hour just for a couple of German beers, set outside and enjoyed the atmosphere. Dined in for supper. Staff is friendly, waitress was 5 Star, drinks and food were prompt. Our meals were delicious! Rolls were to die for!!! There is both German and American food. Prices were what I'd expect for a tourist area but not over the top. I recommend and will return when I'm back in town.

The highlight was the Elk and the Buck on the wall. Tourist trap: Food, Atmosphere and Cleanliness needs work. Our waitress Jennifer was wonderful and replaced my burnt baked potato with the the garlic mashed potatoes. Not much you can do with my dry grilled chicken. The salmon with mashed potatoes was better. Plastic water cups, salad dressing served in plastic cups, butter and sour cream for the burnt baked potato was served in a plastic cup. You get the idea and every few minutes a drop of water would fall on my head from the air conditioner. Two stars for the waitress. Afterwards I read in a review that the GM has been there 7 years? Do you read the reviews and then not make any changes? Just for your information when you cut open a baked potato and it is white inside it is from today, if you cut it open and it is brown inside it is from yesterday and if it is also burnt Do Not Serve It!
