Delicious and innovative cuisine! Artistic plating to complement the rich flavors of their dishes. Very friendly and helpful wait staff. When we offered our compliments on the quality of our dinner, our waiter informed us that the chef spent many years as the executive chef of Quattro at the Four Seasons. That didn't surprise me in the least. I highly recommend Sud Italia!

Great Italian food in a nice intimate location. The restaurants food is fresh, the location has a private room for larger parties and an open patio overlooking the rice village district. My favorite dishes were the fried mushrooms and seafood pasta.

Sud Italia is a real pleasure. Owner on the premises. Wonderful italian chef in the kitchen. Reasonable prices and a great patio! We love this outstanding example of what a neighborhood trattoria should be.

Best Italian restaurant in Houston in my opinion as of May 2018. We went there and it is very cozy, great service. They started us off with water and it had mint in it. Its tiny details like this that make them outstanding. We started with 2 appetizers, one with tuna and one with burrata and tomatoes. They were delicious. Then we had the bucatini a l'amatriciana and it was so good. Every bite was a pleasure to eat. The scallop was just delicious. Then we had dessert with chocolate and ricotta canellonis and my favorite a lime pie dessert. The chef walks around talking to guests and they make everything there except the bread. The bread was not good at all, so I would actually give this place a 4.7 because of the bread but I can oly choose a 4 or a 5, and this restaurant is closer to a 5 for sure. Elegant yet casual ambience. We also had great Italian wines to go with the food. And to end the night they gave us limoncello which is made there. It was very fine and served great as a digestif. I will be coming back for more! My only hope is that they change that bread.
