Great dining experience, had a delicious meal and was given a VIP tour of the Civil War era hospital in the attic. Thanks to Max (& Josh) for the personal touch that made my Friday night in Abington special. Thanks also to Abby for assisting me in changing out of my 1860s dress without interruption on Sat. Definitely a place for the foodie/history nerd!

Great place, as we venture through the oldest bar in each state. The owner gave us a tour and the business is very successful. If you want to see history, there is plenty here!

A truly awesome place to have dinner. I've been there many times. In an old tavern building built in 1779. Two stories house the dining area with outside balconies and a beautiful patio area for eating when the weather or season permits. The food is outstanding. Great appetizers, salads and enters. Meals like fish, lamb, beef and foul all prepared expertly. A nice bar area on the first flour.

This is a very quiet, relaxing place to eat. It is very historic and not mention the food is so amazing. I recommend stuffed fillet or crab cakes. They are the best around.

The Tavern has been one of my wife and i’s favorite places to eat in Abingdon for years. We went again recently before a Barter show and loved it again. My wife ordered German food and I got the chicken and risotto special. Both were delicious. I recommend going in the summer and sitting out on the back patio if you can.
